St Kilda’s big win over Carlton was somewhat soured, after midfielder Hunter Clark was taken from the field on a stretcher.
In the fourth quarter of their 14.9 (93) to 10.18 (78) win, Clark came off second best in a brutal collision with teammate Dan Butler.
The 23-year-old then had to be stretchered off.

Butler managed to get up own, despite a bloodied face – but Clark wasn’t so lucky.
After missing six weeks of the 2021 season due to surgery on a fractured jaw when he ran into Adelaide’s David Mackay, Saints faithful were hoping Clark had put the worst of his injury luck behind him – but that was not the case.
“Hunter’s got a broken nose, like a compound fracture sort of come through. It’s pretty ugly,” coach Brett Ratten said afterwards.
“He’s had a bad run. He’s put his head in some wrong spots and been cleaned up and it doesn’t usually happen in the game.”
Despite the injury, Clark was able to join the rest of the St Kilda team for the team song after their win, before going to hospital.
